Sorry mate, that feature was thouroughly abused by some peeps here and thus the FAQ now spells it out:
You will not score any points just for sending an invite..

Invites and people joining on them does not gather brownie points. Sorry if I was not clear on that in this reply and the long email I sent you. I will add "regardless if people join or not" to the faq to clarify. (you did get the email about you getting 30 brownie points from me, right?)

Thanks for the heads up. That makes a lot of sense though.. Easily abusable.

yeah, that was a bit of a bummer. we seem to attract spammers and stuff like that at times.
