All 40.000 commercials in the commercial archive are in Apple's free and fab Quicktime player format.
You should download Quicktime if you don't already have it.

The band is "Quasi" the song is named "I never want to see you again" - you can find it on the 1998 album called "Featuring Birds."
Was that the correct song, Klee?
that is not the correct song not even close
all I found is this so far (which I'm sure is similar to what you've found too): Yahoo answers New Zealand posted six hours ago
Odd, a US ad question being posted in NZ. Oh, it now reads, "This question has been deleted"
PS - Since I haven't even seen a new (2008) Dodge Avenger commercial yet - mind describing what happens in the ad apart from the song? All I can find on the web are people asking about the song but nary a whisper about there even being a new ad out.
Is it First Time by Life House?
I found a couple of references to it but the lyrics don't match! One of them from 6 months ago(?) so probably not right. Anyway, reference here
See the band on YouTube and let me know if it's right or not.
If not, then someone needs to post the damn commercial, as the only ones I can find are from late '07!
:-)
Come on, what is it? Anything posted here correct?
Damn, I hate it when a thread isn't complete :(
I honestly do not know. I know this;
1) We've not received any submissions of a 2008 Dodge Avenger commercials except the smoke on the water one (below)
2) We've not seen any 2008 Dodge Avenger ads except the smoke on the water one.
3) Forums and ask yahoo and god knows where else are peppered with questions about this song that has the mystery lyrics "I never want to see you again" - but nobody has an answer.
If I was a little more cynical, I'd wonder if it was some bizarre viral.
Now I'm just thinking they got the car brand/model wrong.
Yeah, it's strange how it appears on Yahoo! Answers but not mention anywhere else (although this site now comes up on searches).
I've tried numerous lyrics engines to find the answer and even emailed someone I know who's job it is to licence music for ads. They'd not heard of it either nor had they licensed any music for Dodge that fitted the description.
Oh well, one to let go then. Thanks for replying, though :)
I can vouch for having seen this commercial. It was on, I'm pretty sure, Fox. I have regular (no cable, nothing, just antenna) television, and have seen it on multiple times (as of 8/2/08), so I know it exists, and am, too, looking for this song.
if that is the commercial, its called "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple - a classic
The thing is, it isn't. This is the only commercial that I can find (and that we have had submitted here) for the 2008 Dodge Avenger - the smoke on the water one. Now, everyone on ask yahoo and places like that people keep asking about this other mystery ad, that is nowhere to be found which apparently has the lyrics "I never want to see you again".
I found this answer online. Road Trip Song- By Pete Schmidt.. I guess its an unreleased song. I cant find it.
ok never mind, thats definitely not the song.. But I found a short clip of the commercial on youtube. Go me! heres the link
Go you! Now we know the ad exists! (and that is SO not Quasi's song)
Yahoo answers here says: "Pete Schmidt at Chicago's Comma Music and Sound Design."
